Supriya Dang Swami Vivekananda took birth on January 12, 1863 in Bengali aristocratic family of Calcutta. His real name was Narendranath Datta. He was an Indian monk and a philosopher. He was the disciple of his Guru Ramakrishna and had a great influence from his personality and thoughts. He was also influenced by Brahmo Samaj and western Universalism and esotericism. He was the main figure who introduced Indian darshans of Vedanta and Yoga to the western world. He was the key figure to bring Hinduism on the major status of the world in late nineteen century. He was also the founder of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission. His speech in Chicago in 1893 at Parliament of the World's Religions marked him as one of the greatest orators. Through this speech he introduced Hinduism in the world. His starting words of the speech, "My brothers and sisters of America..." are still remembered and cherished his personality which influenced the whole world. EARLY LIFE: As it is mentioned earlier that Swami Vivekanand was born as Narendranath Dutta in aristocratic Bengali traditional family in Calcutta. He had his ancestral home at 3 Gurmohan Mukherjee Street. He was one of the nine siblings. His father's name was Vishwanath Dutta who was an attorney at Calcutta High Court. His mother, Bhubaneswari Devi was a home maker and devoted her life to her family. The rational and religious thinking of his parents had great influence on him that made him a good person and helped him in shaping his personality. Swami Vivekananda was influenced and inclined towards spirituality at an early age and used to meditate before the image of deities like Shiva, Rama and Hanuman. He was a naughty child in his childhood and his parents found it difficult to control him. His mother used to say, "I prayed to Shiva for a son and he has sent me one of his demons."
