The one and only Udo Lindenberg is finally returning to the stage! The musician announced a show at the Uber Arena on 7 June 2019 as part of his "Udo Lindenberg - Live 2019" tour.

The successful musician has shaped the German world of music like no other. He is not only often considered to be the inventor of German rock music, but has also contributed as an artist, composer, writer, movie maker and much more. The hat, the obligatory sunglasses – this man is a legend in Germany. 

2018 marks his 50th year working in the music industry. Since his early years, Udo Lindenberg has gathered both stage experience and numerous awards. The Rolling Stone Magazine even suggests that since the release of his album "Stark wie Zwei" in 2008, everyhting he touches turns to gold. 

The new show promises many musical guest stars as well as brilliant visual highlights and many more surprises for the audience.

According to Stage Entertainment, a musical featuring hits of German rock musician Udo Lindenberg premiered last week in Berlin.

Entitled HINTERM HORIZONT (or BEYOND THE HORIZON), the show celebrated its opening in Potsdam Square. The musical has a book by ThomasBrussig("Sun Alley") andis directed byUlrichWaller. This location of the theater is significant as the musical about a divided Berlin takes place where the Berlin Wall used to be.

Lindenberg is famous for his rebellious rock music, and believed in a unified Germany long before the Berlin Wall came down. The new musical tells the story of the forbidden love of a girl from East Berlin and the character of Udo Lindenberg, a West German rock star. A combination of Lindenberg's life story, the show is being advertised as an "East-West-Side-Story".

Jessy is played by Berlin native Josephin Busch, and Udo is played by Serkan Kaya (Jesus Christ Superstar, We Will Rock You).

The show includes the songs "To the End of the World", "Against the Flow", "Girl from East Berlin", "I Do My Thing," and "Beyond the Horizon" by Lindenberg.

The musical has been praised as an important comment on German history.

The story of the Berlin Musical “Hinterm Horizont” tells the tale of an encounter of a young Udo Lindenberg with an activist of the East German youth association FDJ. how they fall in love with each other and what problems arise from this. The highly elaborated musical production tells an East-West-Side story in the shadow of the Berlin Wall. Young musical performer Serkan Kaya plays Udo Lindenberg, of course with his signature hat, which also features next to a supersized Berlin Wall as giant prop on stage. For years Udo Lindenberg was active for his audience in East Berlin and the GDR. He even tried to get a permit for a tour through East Germany which never happened though. In some of his songs, he even sings about his futile attempts for organizing a tour through the GDR.

It’s a musical with an authentical background which, 25 years after the demise of the Berlin Wall, brings a part of East and West German history to life with music. The site of the musical, Stage Theater on Potsdamer Platz, is located where the Wall used to stand.
