One of the most well known and well liked actors of his time, Kiran Kumar has been a part of the industry for more than five decades and acted in iconic films like Khudgarz, Tezaab, Khuda Gawah, Henna, Thanedaar, Vishwatma, Anjaam, and many more.
Kiran Kumar, born Deepak Dhar on October 20, 1953, in Mumbai, is the son of celebrated actor Jeevan. Hailing from Kashmir, the family has an illustrious lineage, as his great-grandfather served as the Wazir-e-Wazarat of Gilgit, and his father's cousin, D K Sapru, was a legendary actor of his time.
Kiran Kumar completed his education at the prestigious Daly College in Indore before graduating from R.D. National College in Mumbai. Kiran Kumar later joined the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) in Pune to study acting.
Kiran Kumar's foray into cinema began as a child artist in "Love in Simla" (1960), followed by Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya (1963) and Baharon Ki Manzil (1968). He then acted in supporting roles in films like Khwaja Ahmad Abbas's "Do Boond Pani," with Jalal Agha and Simi Garewal.
His debut as a lead came with Shibu Mitra's surprise hit "Bindiya Aur Bandook (1972)," opposite Asha Sachdev. He then acted in many films as a lead, notably Jangal Mein Mangal (1972), Jalte Badan (1973), Apradhi (1974), Thokar (1974), Anjaan Raahen (1974), Gaal Gulabi Nain Sharabi (1974), Raees (1976), Kulvadhu (1977), Abhi To Jee Lein (1977), Pandit Aur Pathan (1977), and many more.

Personal Life
Kiran Kumar was born as Deepak Dhar on October 20, 1953. He attended Daly College in Indore and R.D. National College in Bandra, Mumbai, before attending the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII). He was known as "Deepak Dhar" among the other students at the Film and Television Institute of India.
Family
Kiran Kumar hails from a wealthy Hindu family in Kashmir. His great-grandfather was a nobleman who had served as the Gilgit Agency's Wazir-e-Wazarat. He is the eldest son of Jeevan Kumar, who was a well-known Indian actor. His mother's identity is unknown. Kiran has two younger sisters, Nikki Jeevan and Rikki Ugra, and an elder brother named Bhushan Jeevan.
He is married to Sushma Verma, who is a former Gujarati performer, stylist, and consultant. The couple has two children, Shurya Kumar and Vikas Kumar, both actors. Shrishti Kumar, their daughter, runs the jewelry and clothing company called "Shush & Shish."

Career
In Films
Kumar made his feature debut in 1960 with a cameo appearance in "Love in Shimla." He made his big screen debut with Do Boond Pani in 1971 and went on to appear in a number of subsequent films. He made his feature film debut with "Azad Mohabbat" in 1974. The release of films like Jangal Mein Mangal, among others, had a negative impact on Kumar's career.
He chose to work in the Gujarati cinema quiz, which came to popularity and received the title of "The Bachhan of Gujarati Cinema."
